An Introductory Workshop:
Collaboration in Complexity
A 2-hour workshop to get a better understanding of what it really takes to work well together. Introducing key concepts around working in complexity as a way to shift our shared understanding and approach to collaboration.
For people and change leaders.
Collaboration is an overused and misunderstood concept...
we’re here to change that.
We all know that there’s power in collaboration; we’re all doing it all the time. The problem is that we need to be much better at it, given the complexity of the challenges we face in our organisations and beyond.
Collaboration can often be idealised by the belief that if we put aside our differences and work constructively together, then everything will be great—as if that were easy. Yet collaboration, at its core, requires us to work with differences to spark innovation and change. And it’s not straightforward.
About the workshop
The workshop introduces the Rise Collaboration Compass as a tool to guide the experience of working better together. It is designed to help participants engage with their real experiences of collaboration around real challenges (no lengthy speakers or wordy slides!)
The workshop will guide you through the following:
- Making (some) sense of Complexity
an exploratory conversation and sharing around this fundamental reality that impacts how we live and work with each other.
- Being, Thinking, Doing, Relating; key practices for collaboration
an immersive experience into the Rise Collaboration Compass and the different ways we can notice, think and act differently together.
- So what?
identifying what’s required individually and collectively to make a difference in your projects, teams or organisations.
Participants leave with a greater understanding of collaboration and complexity, how to nurture stronger relationships, and become better equipped to tackle their complex challenges.
-
For teams and leadership groups wanting to think about, and become better at, how they work together.
Hint: If you've got collaboration as one of your organisational values or priorities... this is probably a good workshop for you!
PS. We also run open sessions of this workshop. If you're interested in forming a group with others who are curious about complexity, sign up below.

Why this workshop?
There are plenty of workshops and webinars on these topics, but three things make this different:
It’s theory based - our work draws from leading knowledge of social complexity theories and behavioural sciences. Academic research papers take time to read, which we’re guessing you don’t have, so we make the latest understanding of these concepts accessible in a few engaging hours.
It’s effective - the workshop is highly engaging by design and isn’t a lecture, so you can’t just sit and listen (or zone out!). Through the gamified format, you will collaborate with fellow participants to complete simple exercises, which help to deepen your understanding and connection to the experience of collaboration in complexity.
It’s relevant - rather than spending too much time on abstract concepts, we help you get into your real experiences as quickly as possible. This way, you’re applying the insights to your current challenges and leaving with ideas for how to work differently going forward.
